Kayman Charters 4-26-2009
April 27, 2009April 29th, 2009 Tuna.com Cod/Haddock Report
May 1, 2009We at Tuna Hunter wait all winter for spring days on the water like this past weekend. Bright sun, light breezes, great fishing yielding clean cod and bountiful haddock. Some feel Gloucester cod & haddock fishing is best in the spring, when there is less commercial pressure on the fishing grounds and all-round fewer boats on the water.
Our Stellwagon Bank spots are producing a mix of clean cod, up to 22 lbs, and haddock averaging 22 inches. Both species are hitting on both jigs and clams, depending on the particular spot and tide. Spring tides called for the heavier jigs for the bulk of the day on Saturday. The action was fairly steady throughout the charters, as we moved from one spot to another as the bite at one area slowed down to keep all anglers busy.
This is the time to fill your freezer, taking advantage of those gorgeous spring days out on the water. Call us for the latest openings at 978-407-1371, or email captain@tunahunter.com. That next 20-lb-er has your name on it!
Good fishing to you!
