There are many ways to cook salmon and everyone seems to have a favorite dish. One of the more popular dishes is maple salmon. It is not a hard dish to make but you have to have all the ingredients on hand in order to ensure that you get the same results. Maple syrup adds a distinct, yet remarkable taste to grilled salmon.

Ingredients for Maple Salmon

  • Lemon juice, 2 T
  • Pure Maple Syrup, ½ cup
  • Salmon fillets, 4
  • Scallions, sliced thin, 3 T
  • Ginger Root, 1 t, minced
  • Dijon Mustard, ¼ cup
  • Light Soy Sauce, 4 T.

Instructions

In a small bowl, combine the lemon juice, the maple syrup, the soy sauce, the mustard and the ginger root. Then place the salmon in a glass baking dish. Pour the marinade over it and make sure to save at least ¼ of a cup of the marinade for later.
Refrigerate it for at least one hour.

Warm up the grill and remove the salmon from the dish. Keep the marinade to brush over the salmon later on. Place salmon on grill and then cover it. Grill the salmon over medium coals for about four minutes. Then turn the fish over and brush with the reserved marinade.

Cover the grill and then grill for another four minutes. You can tell if the salmon is done when you test it with a fork. The salmon should flake easily and fall away from the bone.

Now your maple salmon is almost ready. Remove to a serving dish and then top with the marinade that you have reserved. Then top with the chopped scallions. Serve with a mixed vegetable platter and some nice green salad.

You may not be aware that salmon contains a valuable source of omega 3, which is an essential fat for our bodies. Omega 3 fatty acid is something that our body needs to keep healthy but we do not make this type of essential fat. This is why it is important to make sure that you serve your family a salmon dish every week.

The recipe for Maple Salmon can be doubled or tripled if need be. It is a rather convenient dinner as it only takes less than ten minutes to prepare and is ready in less than an hour. This time includes the time for preparation, marinating, and cooking.
Serve Maple Salmon along with some wild rice and sliced tomatoes or cucumbers. This will provide you with important omega 3 fatty acids that your body needs.
