Captain Damon Sacco is a New England native, and grew up fishing the waters off of Cape Cod and Boston Massachussets. Damon is an active member of the Recreational Fishing Alliance, Coastal Conservation Association, International Gamefish Association, and Billfish Foundation which act to preserve North Atlantic fish stocks and, more importantly, the future of our recreational angling industry. Damon is also a member of the Boston Big Game Club and Hyannis Anglers Club, and will be participating in most of the local 2005 fishing derbys. Damon is a U.S Coast Guard licensed captain, and has logged over five thousand offshore hours at sea in waters from Maine to Florida.
Damon has also logged well over a hundred trips to the offshore canyons of the Northeast. He is an active tournament fisherman, and has garnered proven success in local competitions each season. Two Massachussets state records have been set on the Castafari. Damon is also a participant in the North Atlantic Marine Fisheries bluefin tuna tagging program, and is available to fish closed season days after the quotas are filled. If you are curious about how the charter fishing is going on the “Castafari”, Damon contributes a weekly fishing report in “The Fisherman” magazine. (New England edition) The report will be listed under the Pocasset and or North Falmouth heading. Damon is also a member of the pro staff at Saltwater Sportsman Magazine, and has spoken at the magazine’s annual seminar series on big game fishing tactics. He will also be putting together some slide shows available to the public in the near futere. Stay tuned.
Captain Damon is also a sportfishing writing and photography enthusiast, and has had several of his fishing related photos and stories published in just about all of the major fishing publications. Some of his latest contributions were in Marlin Magazine, The Big Game Journal, Saltwater Sportsman, and The Fishermen. Damon was also featured on the cover of Bluewater Magazine next to a behemouth estimated 700 pound blue marlin he caught and released while stand-up fishing with 80 pound line in Panama. Keep an eye out this year in 2005 as there’s stories and photos to come this Spring and Summer.
Damon has fished at many world wide destinations including Panama, Bora Bora, Costa Rica, The British Virgin Islands, Cabo San Lucas, Belize, The Bahamas, Venezuala, and right here in America! Needless to say, Damon has been lucky enough to fish alongside several great captains, and has learned quite a few tricks that will, without a doubt, help to keep you , the crew, and even himself guessing. If a fish gets away, there will be only one person to blame, and it won’t be the captain!
When Damon is not fishing, he is either running his bowling/billiard establishment in Somerville Massachusetts, or spending time with his wife Abby and their two children, Sebastian and Ava.
