Many people like to go fishing as a hobby. However, there are also people that fish for income. These people often go out to sea on huge barges or trawlers that are designed specifically for catching large saltwater fish. People who buy tuna steaks in the grocery stores often like to make blackened tuna steaks with mango salsa.

Blackened Tuna Steaks with Mango Salsa

This is an easy recipe for you to make for yourself and your family:

Ingredients

  • Yellowfin tuna steaks, 2
  • Lime juice, 2 T
  • Garlic, 2 cloves, minced
  • Olive oil, 2 T.
  • Blackening Seasoning
  • Sea salt, 1 tsp
  • Freshly ground white pepper, ¼ tsp
  • Red chili pepper, ½ tsp
  • Cayenne Pepper, ½ tsp
  • Paprika Powder, 1 ½ tsp
  • Mango Salsa
  • Fresh Cilantro, ¼ cup
  • Honey, 2 tsp
  • Lime Juice, 1 T.
  • Red onion, diced, 1/3 of a cup
  • Seeded and diced jalapeno peppers, 2
  • One peeled, seeded and diced mango

Method

Mix the garlic, lime juice and olive oil together in a bowl. Rub into tuna fish steaks and then put them in the refrigerator and allow them to marinate for at least an hour.

Then combine all ingredients listed for the mango salsa. Mix these well and then put in refrigerator for at least an hour or longer to let the seasonings and mango mingle together.

Take all the seasonings listed for the blackening seasoning and mix them together in a small bowl. Take the tuna steaks from the fridge and rub each one generously with the blackening seasoning. Or you can also place the mix seasoning on a cookie sheet, wet the tuna and shake off excess water, then dredge each side of the tuna steak in the seasoning.

Place some olive oil in a medium sized pan and heat it over a medium flame. Then add the tuna steaks one at a time. Cook each side of the tuna steak for approximately 3 minutes. Remove from heat and place onto a serving platter.

Top each of the blackened tuna steaks with the mango salsa. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley or cilantro.

You can serve the blackened tuna steaks with mango salsa with a green salad and some brown rice. If you are a seafood lover or are serving more than two people, remember to double the amount of each ingredient, including the tuna steaks.

Fish is an important part of our diets. You should try to serve at least one fish dish a week to your family to ensure that they are getting all the important vitamins and nutrients that their bodies need.
